A tasting we will go...

It's Friday! This has been a long, emotionally exhausting week. I am more ready for the weekend than I have been in a long time. I somehow managed to score the early shift for work today, which means I'll be in weekend mode at 3:30! But more on that later.

Last night Aaron and I met up with blogger Alyssa and her husband Chris who are in town from California visiting his family. I've been "internet friends" with Alyssa for years now, so it was great to finally meet her in person! She was just as sweet and funny as she seems on her blog, Woodland Dreams. If only she had brought some of her baked goods along, then the evening really would have been perfect!

We ate at one of my favorite local restaurants, the Union Woodshop in Clarkston, which just won 2011 Restaurant of the Year from the Detroit Free Press. In my opinion they have one of the best menus around, their prices are very reasonable, and they serve beer in mason jars. 'Nuf said, right Alyssa? If you're ever visiting Metro Detroit or are looking for a new restaurant to try in the area, you need to get yourself to the Woodshop.

I wish we had brought our cameras, but our crummy iPhone photo will have to do. It was a great evening, and I'm so glad I was able to meet those two!

After work today my mom and I are driving up north to go wine tasting with my aunts and my cousin Rachel. After this crazy week I could not be more ready for a girls weekend in beautiful northern Michigan with an unending supply of red wine.
