A new outlook.

Three weeks sure do fly by, don't they? When I wrote my last post it was not my intention to become MIA on my own blog. However, the occasional harrassment I received from family and friends about when they'd see an update was a helpful reminder of how long I'd been away. To be honest, I just needed a break.

I have a tendency to fill my life with more hobbies, goals, and to-do lists than I could ever dream of accomplishing. Throw in my addiction to social networking and you can understand why I occasionally forget to stop and smell the roses.

So that's what I've been doing. My life is full of roses, and I have been smelling the heck out of them. I feel happier and more balanced than I have in a long time, and I think I just needed a bit of distance to get there.

Taking a step back from the ol' blog helped me realize that I've been doing it wrong. Instead of sitting down to write out my thoughts when it feels right or when I have something that I'd like to share I've started to feel like I have to write a certain number of posts per week in order to get a certain number of followers and so on and so forth. It's no one's fault but my own, but that nonsense stops right now.

I have lots of big ideas for ways to rejuvenate this creative space of mine. My goal is to harness all of the positive things about it (the writing, the photography, the amazing friends and networking opportunities) and to let go of the pressure that I put on myself. I'm happiest when I let those creative juices start to flow, and there's no reason to get in my own way.

After three and a half years of blogging I can't imagine not having it (and all of you!) in my life.
One of the photos from my little "photo shoot" in California. I love it because I look so darn happy. It's a good representation of how I've been feeling these days. Photo credit to Boivin Photographe.

Love the dress. It's my "now" favorite colour.

hugs to welcome you back, sailor! ;) (your "curve ball" is adorable and might have made me giggled lol)

it's funny how to no one's fault but our own that sometimes blogging shifts to that... to that pressure, that personal want to keep up with the "blogging joneses"-- maybe it's because we sometimes can't help being our own worst critic.

I'm with you on the shaking it off!!!

you are BEAUTIFUL!!!! i've always thought that but this photo is my favourite-- you look so happy and happiness looks good on you.

p.s. i want your arms!

hear hear!! I feel the exact same way about my blog. I realized I was blogging because I wanted comments, or people to follow me... and that's not why I started. I started because I wanted a place to remember and to write and to share things with friends and family. So that's what I do now, share when I want to and when it works. I love blogging for so many reasons, but it's not good when it starts to become something that NEEDS to be done, like another obligation. Here's to enjoying blogging and no pressure!! :)

also: HOT DANG. you are gorgeous!! I love your smile! and you're so toned. I might be jealous of your arms. hehe.

yay!! good for you. i think our blogs need to be fun, happy places for ourselves. if it stops being that, then we need to make changes. life should come first and if it's filling your life with all sorts of wonderful things, then you should definitely be enjoying it. we'll all be here when the time is right to whip up a post.
