A bunch of winers.

Although I've lived here all my life, this weekend was the first time I'd ever experienced Northern Michigan in the Fall. Knowing how beautiful it is throughout the rest of the year I had a feeling it would be breathtaking. How right I was!

My mom and I drove up after work on Friday night and met the other ladies at my aunt's cottage on Old Mission Peninsula. Her place is tucked away on a dirt road, within walking distance to Old Mission Harbor and within driving distance to multiple vineyards. It is my own personal heaven.

On Saturday morning we did some shopping and had a big lunch before heading out to the local wineries. We tried dozens of different blends and we each bought a few bottles to take home. Michigan is mostly known for its white wines, which tend to be a bit too sweet for me, but I managed to find some reds that I loved. My favorite was the Cabernet Franc from 2 Lads Winery. I can't wait to open that bad boy!

On Sunday morning I made pumpkin pancakes for everyone and we spent the morning sitting around the table gossiping laughing and talking. After we packed our things and cleaned up we decided to go outside and enjoy the great outdoors and the 60 degree weather, which wont be with us for much longer.

We walked down the street, which was lined with gorgeous colorful trees, to the harbor. It was my goal to try to find a petoskey stone, which I always try to do when I'm at one of the Great Lakes. I failed. No surprise there, those things are hard to find!

Instead we just took some more photos to document the perfect end to a perfect trip.

Me with my beautiful mom.

And the rest of the gang. I love these women more than words can describe. I'm so glad we were able to sneak away for a girls weekend, even it was just for a short time. I definitely want to try to make this an annual tradition!
