To call a man a douchebag.

Last night Jason and I were hanging out and everything was going well. We made dinner, watched the Pistons game, I baked a pie, we were laughing and joking and having a nice time. That is, until he dropped the bomb on me.

It all happened while we were watching The Colbert Report, which I love but Jason has only seen a few times. We were both cracking up at the hilarity of it all when I said "I love [Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert], they're so funny" to which my boyfriend replied, "Nah, I hate Jon Stewart. That guy's a douchebag."

WHAT?!?

I'm pretty sure I questioned the foundation of our relationship at that very moment.

Okay, so maybe I didn't do that, but I did get irrationally ticked off like I tend to do sometimes. Whenever someone challenges something (or clearly, in this case, someone) that I feel strongly about I get strangely defensive and stubborn. I realize that this is kind of silly, but I just can't help it.

I think what upset me in this instance was was that there was no reason given as to why Jason thinks Jon Stewart is a douchebag. There are a lot of people out there whose opinion I disagree with but also happen to respect, but that's hard to do when you don't understand the motivation behind their opinion. That's right, even douchebaggery requires motivation in my world.

Can you believe I'm still talking about this? Neither can I.

I guess I just have to come to terms with the fact that my real-life boyfriend doesn't like my on-screen boyfriend.

It's okay Jon. At least we still have each other.

That is hilarious! So funny. I do the same thing though (the getting irrationally ticked off when someone challenges something or someone I feel strongly about without reason). Stick to your gun woman!

He's right though. Jon Stewart is a smug, abrasive, self-righteous, out-of-context misinforming, douchebag who appeals to the disaffected moonbat youths of the world.
